Bella Brava is an Italian restaurant in downtown Saint Petersburg near the water. They are a “new world trattoria,” offering a casual and lively atmosphere. You have the option of eating inside or outside, and both options offer a unique dining experience.
Tonight’s visit was slightly below average compared to previous Bella Brava visits. My girlfriend and I arrived at 4:30 PM to learn they were still serving from their more limited lunch menu. They switch to their dinner menu at 5:00 PM, and don’t serve complimentary bread until then either. Also, the waitstaff at Bella Brava can be hit or miss, and tonight was on the slow side even though very few people were eating at 4:30 PM on a Saturday.
All that in mind, the food was as delicious as usual. I ordered a Trattoria burger with fries (pictured above), and both were excellent. They recently reverted to a fry style closer to that from a couple years ago, which is excellent news for old school Bella Brava fans. For a few months they had been serving sub-par fries or none at all. Now they need to revive the roast beef sandwich from that same era.
Overall, Bella Brava is one of the best options on Beach Drive for lunch or dinner, and they offer some very unique and tasty Italian dishes. When you visit, parking can be difficult in this area so come prepared. They do offer valet service, but I’m unsure of the cost and it’s free.
